 East-West Development, Inc. (EWD) was established in 1979 in Ohio, USA specializing in international trade. In the same year, EWD established an office in Guangzhou, China to supply medical equipment to Chinese hospitals and medical schools. Since then we have established more branch offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Ximen and built up strong connections with Chinese Health Bureau officers and hospital executives and staff. For more than two decades EWD has assisted many western medical companies to establish marketing and service outlets in China and make multi-million dollar sales.

OUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS

1977: Jiunn-Der Wu received a Ph.D. in biochemistry from George Washington University Medical College, Washington, D.C.

1978-1980: Jiunn-Der Wu worked as a research scientist at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation to study cholesterol metabolism and its effect on heart diseases.

1980-1982: Jiunn-Der Wu founded East-West Development, Inc. (EWD) and spent many years in China learning about Chinese business style and governmental policies in regards to foreign trade.

1983-1990: The combination of hard work, personal friendships, connections with key people in China and a unique insight into Chinese business mentality resulted in many contractual agreements for EWD. We helped several American firms sign approximately 30 million dollars in contracts for product sales and joint venture enterprises. Our success in China trade convinced many multinational companies to appoint us as their Chinese consultant. As a result of EWD’s consultation and guidance many of our clients established an excellent reputation and enjoyed great business success in China.

1989-Now In 1989, EWD was certified by the State of Ohio as a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE). Since then we have been certified by the City of Philadelphia, Cuyahoga County of Ohio, City of Cleveland and many other cities in Ohio. For the past 15 years, we have been quite successful as a supplier/distributor of medical, laboratory, dental, scientific laboratory, veterinary, environmental, safety and emergency as well as office and janitorial products to various cities, counties, agencies, colleges, universities, institutional and private organizations. EWD was awarded over 10 million dollars in contracts as MBE supplier by the State of Ohio, Ohio State University, the City of Cleveland, the City of Philadelphia and other governmental agencies. Under the MBE program, East-West development received sales achievement awards from Ohio State University. East-West Development, Inc. has a proven track record of more than fifteen (15) years as a minority supplier and we continue to expand our product lines and improve our service.

1991-1998: Dr. Wu formed Quality Life International (QLI) to manufacture and market personal healthcare products. 1999: Dr. Wu was appointed Director of Integrative Medicine by Mt. Sinai Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio to establish the first hospital-affiliated Integrative Medicine & Wellness Center in the State of Ohio.

2000: Dr. Wu partnered with two MD’s and other medical professionals to establish the first independent Integrative Medicine and Wellness Center in Parma, Ohio. The center frequently invited traditional Chinese doctors to the clinic to demonstrate Chinese medical techniques and serve the community. Currently Dr. Wu serves as a consultant for American and European medical, nutritional and pharmaceutical firms seeking to market their products to the Asian Pacific Rim.
